Most of Hyla's articles, written over the last twenty-five years have featured her own artwork. In the last decade photography has moved from a strong interest to a passion. Using both film and digital equipment, Hyla continues to focus on antiques and collectibles but still life, flowers, scenes that capture another era, streetscapes and landscapes are all on her radar now. Her images are winning awards, including 2nd and 3rd prizes in the Southern Ontario Orchid Photography Contest in 2006 and first place in February 2007. Hyla participates in Toronto Art Shows, group shows and most recently her first solo show which was held in the Dining Room at Quigley's, a legendary Queen Street East bar/restaurant. Momentos, her next show, opening in May -- in conjuction with CONTACT 2007, a North American wide festival of photography -- will offer a stunning collection of images ranging from teacups and textiles to pearls and porcelain. Here Fox cleverly brings to life her favorite vintage treasures with more than fifty framed works. Details: Opening Reception: Saturday, May 5: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. A portion of each purchase will benefit the Marvelle Koffler Breast Centre at Toronto's Mount Sinai Hospital.
